Facebook Really Cares For You: Plans To Provide McAfee Protection From Viruses!

Facebook loves your online social face, they help you make more friends, walk you through effective video promotion for your brand and now they want to help you secure your computer against online (internet) viruses and trojans. All you need to do in order to receive this free service from Facebook is to visit the McAfee page on Facebook and become a fan of the page (Becoming a fan of the McAfee page is one of the pre-requisites). This unlocks the form that leads you to the security software download page which contains a six-month subscription to McAfee security software at no cost. After the six month period gets over, you can upgrade your subscription with a special discount that is again available only to Facebook users! At the time of drafting this post,  users from only 12 countries were eligible for the download (excluding India).
This is again (not to be mentioned but) another clever promotional activity from Facebook. So how will Orkut respond to this activty of Facebook now? Well, if they too launch a similar deal with a web security solution, people will comment saying “Orkut copies yet another Facebook feature”. What Orkut can do instead is, they can have a link posted on the home page that suggests their users to install the Google Pack (which bundles a tool called the Spyware Doctor with Antivirus among others). That is in case they do not want many eyebrows to be raised. Do leave your suggestions in the comments section below.
