Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

Change Mobile Operator with Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

If you are not happy with your current Mobile Phone operator because of Billing Issues, Signal Problems, Call Drops or any other issues you don’t have to worry now because the TRAI [Telecom Regulatory Authority of India] has now offered a new scheme under which you can switch your operator at a cost of just 19Rs which would be applicable from December 31st in India. This service would allow the mobile subscribers to retain their current mobile number and change the service provider if they are not satisfied from the current services.

Iam sure BSNL would loose the most customers in this change since many people had opted for this service in the beginning but after a lot of complaints, subscribers are looking to retain their old numbers but switch the providers. Another reason is that these days the customers are looking for VAS [Value Added Services] like Caller Tunes, Dialer Tuner, Games, SMS etc which is not the main interest of BSNL. Along with this the 11 Digit Mobile Numbers would also be implemented because of the increasing count of mobile phone owners and limited numbers to be offered. While the implementation of this service would not take more than 2 hours, where in your service provider would be changed and following this the new operator would within 5 days send you a written request for verification according the guidelines. After this the documents are sent to the old operator for confirmation and seeking clearance after which the whole trasaction is completed.
There are chances that atleast 5% of the total subscribers would jump to the new networks like Docomo, Vodafone which have better offers, prices and packages for the customers when compared to the oldest companies. Do you plan to change your service provider? If yes whats your current one which one would you opt for?

Is The Tiger Woods Brand in Danger?

No athlete has experienced such a drastic fall from grace as Tiger Woods. From being on top of the sports world to becoming a punch line on late shows everywhere, Tiger finds himself in a public image nightmare. His notoriously private personal life is now under the spotlight of the tabloid circus, which flips and shapes the story to fit every new claim made by a Hollywood waitress.

No doubt this is a trying time for the superstar athlete. But does he deserve such intense media scrutiny? And is the multi-million dollar brand that is Tiger Woods threatened?
As much as Tiger says this is a “private” matter, it is not. While he himself didn’t open the doors to his private life, his position as an immense public figure warrants the attention. Unfair as it may be, his golf skills made him a superstar; his private affairs will bring him back down to reality.
Tiger himself never asked to be framed as such a squeaky-clean persona. The media and his endorsements painted him as such. Consequently, in the age of the 24-hour news cycle, perception = reality. With millions made from selling that flawless public image, he now has to defend it against the same people who just weeks ago did nothing but sing his laurels. That’s just how it is.
The chance of Tiger losing his corporate sponsorships is still unlikely. However, the volatility of this continuing saga may be beginning to catch up with him. Bloomberg reports advertisements featuring Tiger Woods have disappeared from prime-time broadcast television and many cable channels following reports of his extramarital affairs, according to data from Nielsen Co.
The longer the tabloid-driven story continues to gain momentum, the greater the danger it has of permanently tarnishing the Tiger Woods brand. As many PR gurus have suggested (who I won’t even pretend to be in the same league as), Tiger needs to get ahead of the story and come clean. The devil is in the details, and right now the tabloids are filling in the details. Staying silent will only continue to fuel the fire.
In the end, Tiger can take a page from Kobe Bryant and Michael Phelps – by putting as much as possible out in the open, apologizing, and then immediately begin rebuilding himself and his family.

Infosys likely to offer 13,000 jobs on campuses

Infosys likely to offer 13,000 jobs on campuses

BANGALORE: Infosys Technologies, the country’s second largest IT services exporter, is likely to make 13,000 campus offers to fresh engineering
graduates who are expected to join during the course of fiscal 2011.

Interacting with mediapersons here on Wednesday, Nandita Gurjar, senior VP, Infosys said that they have already started going to campuses in about 700 engineering colleges. Infosys had made 20,000 offers to engineering graduates for the 2009 fiscal, though only around 75-80 % of the students actually join the company.

The Indian IT services industry has discontinued the earlier practice of selecting the students a year before they complete their graduation and is now visiting colleges in the final semester itself. According to the Infosys official, they would be closing the 2009 fiscal with around 18,000 freshers and 3,500 experienced hires and it is expected that the same hiring numbers is likely for the coming fiscal.
